SCOTTISH MEETS January – April 2009
The 2009 programme concentrates on February and March, the
heart of the Scottish season before the alpine touring season
takes off. We are hoping for a repeat of the spectacular
conditions of last winter.
During 2008 several more Eagles from the South joined a
Scottish weekend or two to add more mountain time to their
winter. A third “luxury highland lodge long weekend”
at Achnasheen now joins the previously over subscribed meets
of Mar Lodge and Corrour Estate. Mar Lodge and Achnasheen
can be combined to give nearly a week of ski touring/Munro
bagging/alpine preparation. Scottish ski touring has an
ambience to be savoured where finding the best snow/crossing
the burns/being inside a blizzard all adds to the mountain
experience.
Please book early!
Late bookings can lead to disappointment and make difficulties
for the organisers. Note that several meets have deadlines in
early December.

SCOTTISH DAY MEETS 2008/2009
Day meets complement the weekend meets by providing a flexible
and informal format for Eagles to get together and go day
touring in Scotland as conditions allow.
A list of meets is given below. Members interested in joining a
day meet should give their name to the meet convenor by email
(preferably) or telephone. In the week before the meet, the
convenor will choose the exact venue depending on conditions
and circulate final details two-three days beforehand. Those
wishing to attend should confirm with the convenor by midday on
the day before the meet at the latest, for insurance purposes
and to enable a final head count. Click on a meet for contact

The prime objective of these meets is to promote contact and companionship
amongst like-minded members and to offer a congenial forum that is
welcoming to new members. They also provide an opportunity to keep fit and
sometimes broaden ones sporting horizons while awaiting the next skiing season.
Please note that full payment in advance
is now required for nearly all our meets.
This will not normally be returnable following a late cancellation
(or failure to turn up), since the Club is usually liable for booked
but unused accommodation. Please remember also to supply an SAE to the
organiser if you are seeking information or an acknowledgement by post.
As a member club of Snowsport England, the Eagle Ski Club is bound by the
SSE Child Protection Policy.PDF
The Club also has its own Child Protection Policy,PDF
in accordance with which, children under 18, (whether members or not,)
are accepted on meets at the organiser's discretion,
and normally only where a parent or legal guardian attends the meet
and takes responsibility for the child.
In case of doubt, please discuss with the organiser.
The following six meets have been arranged. As planned, we are
presenting a similar set of meets to those run in recent years. Details
of the post-AGM walk will be provided in the Spring Circular in
May and on the Club Web site. Please remember that, apart from the
