Improving the website

The Club's website plays a key role in the identity of the Club and is an important resource for the Club and its members. It is also the public-facing end of the Club and what we do. We have invested a lot of time and effort in making key services available through the website. The website has been created and managed by a small group of committed volunteers, at very little cost to the Club.

Although the current website has served us well, there is an emerging view that some change is needed if the website is to continue to play a key role in the Club and its activities over the next 5 to 10 years.

The Committee has recently agreed that we should review the website and take steps to improve it over the next 1-2 years. So far, Committee members have had some initial discussions with a number of Club members who have been closely involved in the website or who are involved in website development.

A short discussion paper - "Improving our website" - sets out the current thinking of the Committee. It looks at the need for change, what we'd like the website to do, and lists some of the options for improving the website (including layout and structure, content, and extra functions).

We'd like to hear what you think about the website

Before the Committee decides on the extent of change needed and what level of priority to give to different things we could do, we'd like to hear the thoughts and ideas of members on:

  • the need for change - what you like and don't like about the website
  • the layout, structure and usability of the website and how we might improve it
  • the content of the website and how this is created and managed
  • what extra functions or services you'd like the website to provide

To help structure your response, you can use the questions in the attached consultation form. Simply copy the questions into an email and let us know your thoughts and ideas for each one.

Please send your thoughts and ideas to the Communications Secretary (comms@eagleskiclub.org.uk) by 31 October. Many thanks!
