The Eagle Ski Club has been around for nearly 100 years. It was founded in 1925 at the small Swiss resort of Maloja, on the pass between the Engadine and the Bregalia regions, and up the valley from the more famous St Moritz.

Many original documents, including Minute Books, Rule Books, Handbooks, Guidebooks, Yearbooks, correspondence, membership applications etc., have survived and it is the responsibility of the club Archivist to look after them. A full catalogue of the material available is in preparation, some of it has been digitised, and it is planned to digitise more so that it can be made more easily available to the membership, and to others who may be interested in the club’s history. At the same time, the club has a growing archive of more recent material that has been created digitally, and may never have existed in paper form.

1928 Handbook and Guide to Maloja Ski Tours, with Maps

The Club's original Handbook of 1928 (edited by Eric Dorman-Smith) was given a second edition in 1929 and is included among the digitised Yearbooks (see below). The Club Archive also contains an original copy of the Handbook with its associated maps:

• Maloja Touring Map 1928 (1:40,000): special editon produced for the Maloja Ski Club (the original name of the Eagle Ski Club) showing ski routes
• Eaglet Map 1928 (1:20:000): specially-drawn map showing ski routes in the immediate vicinity of the Maloja Palace Hotel, with features mentioned in the route descriptions in the Handbook
