Volunteering Opportunities

Our club is run for members by members. We employ no staff, so rely entirely on the voluntary effort of our diverse and growing membership. Can you give some of your spare time to help make the club tick?  We need both women and men members to step forward and fill important club roles in a number of areas:

  • Scottish meets secretary
  • General committee members
  • Complaints officer
  • Website editor
  • Tour Leaders

You can find out more about these roles below:

Scottish Meets Secretary

The current Scottish Meets Secretary, Paul Karas, is planning to step down at the 2026 AGM. The role is about organising and promoting the Scottish side of the Eagle Ski Club, particularly working with meet organisers and the training officer to develop an annual meets programme in Scotland. The role also involves keeping advice and guidance for meet organisers up-to-date and in line with wider club guidance, and keeping in touch with Mountaineering Scotland. If you are interested in this role, please contact Paul Karas by email at scotsec@eagleskiclub.org.uk or the President, Richard Davison by email at president@eagleskiclub.org.uk

Committee members

We are expecting to have some vacancies at the 2026 AGM for the role of committee member. Being a committee member provides a great insight into the running of the Eagle Ski Club and the challenges that we are facing. General committee members are expected to help with specific tasks or projects, and support the work of officers. It is hoped that, with this experience, normal committee members will put themselves forward to take on one of the officer roles (when these become available). If you are interested in this role, please contact the Secretary, Juliet Benton, by email at secretary@eagleskiclub.org.uk

Complaints officer

You can find more details of the role here.  If you are interested in this role, please contact either the President, Richard Davison by email at president@eagleskiclub.org.uk or the Secretary, Juliet Benton, by email at secretary@eagleskiclub.org.uk.

Website editor

If you're interested in helping develop and improve what we say on the club website and what the website provides for our members, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved.

Our website is a vital resource for members. It's also our "shop window" - where prospective members find out more about us. The website acts as the Club library and underpins our communications. The Website Editor looks after the appearance of the website and its content. The editor works closely with the IT Officer, who looks after and improves the technical operation of the website. If you're interested in the role of Website Editor, please contact our IT Officer, Stuart Cunningham, by email at: internet@eagleskiclub.org.uk or the Communications Secretary, Dennis Mooney, by email at: comms@eagleskiclub.org.uk.

Tour leaders

The club needs a steady flow of new leaders each year to maintain the club touring programme. Age or gender is never a barrier to leading and we particularly welcome younger enthusiasts to balance the profile of the leader team. We are looking for people who are keen, fit and safe mountaineers and have a positive attitude to building a team with shared objectives. If you're interested in becoming a future tour leader, please contact John Hayward who is our leader development coordinator by email at: leaderdev@eagleskiclub.org.uk
