Low-Cost Intro Course for new Ski Tourers

Ski touring can be a wonderfully affordable way to ski once you are skilled enough to do so as an equal member of a group. But the Club is aware that the costs of learning to ski tour can be prohibitive, with expensive kit hire and guiding fees.

That's why we are expanding our training offer for novices, reducing costs to help more people develop the skills needed to participate in the Club's extensive touring programme.

Partnering with the UCPA, the Club is offering an exclusive course for members who are advanced piste skiers, have some off piste experience, and have no ski touring experience. The course runs from 14 to 20 March 2026 at Les Contamines, easily accessible by train from Geneva.

The course cost is £1045, inclusive of accommodation, instruction, all meals, equipment hire, and ski pass. For those who need it, the Club is also offering a subsidy of between £100 and £300, making the cost as low as £645 for 6.5 days of all-inclusive full-board skiing in the Alps.

There are eight places available. Apply using this form by 1 November.

We will let you know if your application has been successful and if you have been awarded a subsidy by 1 December. You will have until 1 December to join the Club (£30 for under-30s) and to pay a £100 deposit, or your place will be given to someone else. The full balance (£645-£945) will be due by 11 February.

The Eagle Ski Club is the UK's largest ski mountaineering Club. People with an existing interest in mountaineering - in the UK and overseas - and a strong foundational skiing ability on and off piste would be especially strong applicants.

Use your application form to tell us about your mountaineering experience and ski touring aspirations. If you already have ski touring skills you may find that other opportunities on our touring programme are better suited to you, such as our Club meets. Joining information is here.
