Grenoble is a very practical destination by train, and easily possible within a day from St Pancras. The straightforward way is via Paris and Lyon, with the possibility of an overnight stop in Paris to give more time for onward travel.
Alternatively, take the Eurostar to Lille and change to the TGV to Lyon there. This avoids the traverse of Paris.
If you are travelling in a group, there is the possibility of pre-booking a transfer minibus to your final destination, from Grenoble or from Lyon (see Get Transfer, for example)
